New floors change how a home looks and feels faster than almost any other upgrade, but the results depend on what happens before the first plank goes down. Renovation WA provides flooring installation in Bellevue and Kirkland for hardwood, engineered wood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and tile, along with the subfloor prep, moisture checks and trim work that decide whether a floor stays flat and quiet.
To get started, call (425) 624-4242. We’ll measure the rooms, check the subfloor, and send a written scope with an itemized estimate for materials and labor.

What Our Flooring Installation Covers
- Removal and disposal of existing carpet, sheet vinyl, laminate or tile
- Subfloor inspection, re-fastening of squeaky spots, and leveling where needed
- Moisture testing on concrete slabs and over crawlspaces
- Underlayment or vapor retarder suited to the product and location
- Installation of hardwood, engineered wood, LVP or tile
- Baseboards, shoe molding, stair nosings and transitions between rooms
- Cleanup and a walkthrough of the finished floor
Many flooring jobs are part of a bigger project. If new floors are going down during a kitchen update or a whole home remodel in Bellevue, we sequence them with cabinets and paint so the finished surface is protected from the other trades.
Choosing Flooring Material for Each Room
Hardwood and Engineered Wood
Solid hardwood can be sanded and refinished many times and suits living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. Engineered wood has a real wood wear layer over a stable core, so it handles humidity swings better and, depending on the product, can go over concrete.
Luxury Vinyl Plank
LVP is water-resistant and forgiving of pets and kids, which makes it popular in kitchens, laundry rooms, basements and busy entries. Quality varies widely; wear-layer thickness and core type matter more than how a sample looks in the showroom.
Porcelain and Ceramic Tile
Tile is the standard for bathrooms and a durable option for mudrooms and entries. Larger formats need a very flat substrate, and in bathrooms tile pairs well with electric radiant heat underneath.

Why Prep Matters in Northwest Homes
Wet winters and crawlspaces are a common combination on the Eastside. Moisture rising from a crawlspace or a slab can make wood cup and cause some glue-down products to release. That’s why we take moisture readings, confirm the vapor barrier, and let wood products acclimate to the house before installation.
Older homes bring other issues: subfloors patched over the decades, joists that dip, or several layers of old flooring that raise the height at doorways. Fixing these first prevents squeaks, hollow spots and awkward transitions later.
A floating floor laid over a sound existing subfloor generally doesn’t need a permit, while structural repairs to joists or subfloor framing may. When flooring is part of broader work, we confirm what applies before the schedule is set.

Our Flooring Installation Steps
- Measure and inspect. We measure every room, look at transitions and stairs, and check the subfloor and moisture conditions.
- Pick the product. We help you compare samples in your own lighting and confirm quantities, including extra for the layout pattern and cuts.
- Confirm scope and dates. You receive an itemized estimate. Installation time depends on the square footage and prep involved, and the written estimate confirms your dates.
- Prep and install. Old flooring comes out, the subfloor is corrected, and the new floor goes in, with doorways and appliance openings planned in advance.
- Trim and final check. Baseboards, transitions and stair details are completed, then we review the finished floor together.
Flooring projects follow our 100% on-schedule guarantee just like larger remodels.

Flooring Installation FAQs
How long should hardwood acclimate before installation?
It varies by product and by conditions in the house, and the manufacturer’s instructions set the requirement. We compare moisture readings of the wood and the subfloor instead of relying on a fixed number of days.
Can new flooring go over my existing floor?
Sometimes. Floating floors can go over certain flat, sound surfaces, but added height can cause trouble at doors, appliances and stairs. In most cases we recommend removing the old flooring so the subfloor can be inspected.
Is LVP a good choice for a whole house?
It can be, especially with pets and young children. Some homeowners prefer wood in living areas for its feel and refinishing potential, and use LVP or tile in wet areas.
Will my baseboards be replaced?
Pulling baseboards usually gives the cleanest result, since the new floor can run underneath. Depending on their condition and style, they can be reinstalled or replaced; we decide that with you during planning.
How are stairs handled?
Stairs need treads and nosings matched to the new floor. They take more labor per square foot than open floor area, so they are listed separately in your estimate.
